Post subject: what is wrong with my car????

| No one....absolutely no one I talk to can help me. I have a 2000 Mazda Protege. The car works fine until I want to go into 5th gear...then it stars slipping. It's like there's no power after I pass 45 mph. Other than that runs fine. I've taken it to a mechanic, they hooked my car to the scanner but it didn't recognize anything wrong with my car! And the mechanic has no idea what it could be. Also my boyfriend and his friends have worked on vehicles and they think it may be a sensor....my father thought it could be my fuel filter. Please I need a professional who knows a little bit about Mazdas to help me!!!! I've been without a car for 3 weeks

| I've not heard of this w/ the http://www.pugimazda.com/search.cfm?t=U&lid=3 (Protege) but w/ another Mazda model, you might just need a new gear on one of the sides, but before you do that, check to make sure your wheels are balanced and that your accelerator wire is intact.

Yeah i can see where that might be a problem. This may seem foolish to say, but have you tried just taking it to a <a href=http://www.pugimazda.com/>Mazda</a> dealer and having them look at it. Even if they just diagnose the problem, you may still be able to fix it yourself on the cheap. >> Stay informed about: what is wrong with my car???? |

Ok, unless someone responds here i'll abandon this thread...
