Post subject: What's they worth?
Archived from groups: alt>autos>ford>flathead (more info?)

So, if I get this stock, all original, untouched '49 Ford flatmotor cleaned
up and running, what would it be worth? I would like to avoid a complete
overhaul because at last report, this motor was running before getting
yanked out in '53 and stored indoors ever since. It even has a thick coating
of original road dirt protecting it from rust, all plugs installed, and a
carb with the butterfly closed. Spins free too!

I've got another motor that was supposedly overhauled before storage, it
spins free and may run if I can fab up a test stand. The other two are
disassembled, one rusty, one clean. If I assemble and test the clean engine
to stock specs, what can I expect to get for it?

I thnk the rusty block is a gonner, what with the pistons corroded to the
cylinder walls and all.

I've also got a '49 rear end and overdrive 3 speed. I'm thinking flat rat
rod, if I can clear enough from selling these other engines.

Jim
