99 Windstar 125k
Isnt the IAC the cause of most of these windstars either hard start or poor
idle at start problems? I've got the same old problems again that I've
temporarily fixed with cleaning it before but I think I'm finally going to
just replace it, just wanted to check before before I plunk down the $80.
Any tests on it that can be done with a multimeter? I do have the factory
manual on cd, just need to get around to installing that too.

From what I've experienced, you're correct. Cleaning it just postpones the
inevitable. If you have the 3.0L, you can get one from rock auto for less
than $70 (I like the Motorcraft brand- lasted longer for me). The 3.8L is
higher.
Good luck!

From what I understand, the IAC *CANNOT* be checked with a multimeter.
But, they are prone to failure on Crown Vics and Marquis. (mine is
probably going, every few days my car loses Idle for a couple of minutes) >> Stay informed about: windstar IAC |

90s Ford IACs are troublesome. I've put 3 in my Contour.

Don't get me started on my Contour
Biggest POS I've ever owned. Tranny failed (twice), head cracked, doors
wouldn't open in the winter, gas door *could* get opened using the
failsafe thingy in the trunk...

Mine was the most reliable car I've owned. Had it 10 years, sold it last
weekend. But it did go through a few parts in the time. 3 IACs, 2 coil
packs, both front wheel bearings, but that was all.
