does anybody have any idea where the vin number would be on a 1937 chevy?
I've had the body off and don't recall seeing it.

GM fisher body autos have a small plate riveted on the firewall with
body number and paint information along with the type of body.

there is a body number on that plate would that be what they used for a
vin#?

Yes. However, MOST cars back then were registered by their engine
number (don't know why - strange but true)

In later years the serial (vin) number was also often stamped in the
frame, or in the case of unitbody cars, into the lower firewall.
