Archived from groups: alt>autos>hyundai (more info?)

I got an email from IIHS that there will be a segment on this Sunday's
Dateline regarding Midsize Crash tests. Nothing on their website, not much
info on NBC's. The only comment about '06 Sonata on IIHS is "Hyundai Sonata
redesigned for 2006; to be tested in late 2005. 2006 Kia Optima has not yet
been redesigned; 2005 model's ratings carry over to 2006." Will it be on
this show???? I don't know. But, it might be. They probably don't let the
cat out of the bag early.

Kia Optima will be released as a 2006.5 model in the U.S. this spring as a completely new redsigned auto using different suspension and power plants than the Sonata for those you not keeping up with Kia. Both Sonata and the new Optima are based on the same platform factor and will be tested separately due to various difference in suspension and equipment.
