My 2002 outback 3.0 has been at the dealer 3 times now with no resolution. At first when driving, I notices subtle changes in how the car was accelerating. It would feel like someone was holding the car back and then letting go, but no changes to the RMP.
Then, I noticed the car was shifting at odd times.
Lastly, at random, the car seems to go into shift shock and downshifts to 3rd or acts like it is searching for a gear (car jerking) while I am on the highway and the AT temp sensor begins blinking. The frustration is that if I turn the car off, later it will be fine (still subtle accelerator oddities) for a while and then suddenly act up again. The Subaru dealer has changed the AT temp sensor, the fuel filter, spark plugs and cleaned the cat. converter (I think). They are completely perplexed and have checked the wiring harness and connections and say it is fine.
The code that comes from the AT temp sensor fault is code 27. It seems that the degree goes from 80 c to 30 (or at least reads this) and then back.
Subaru has only been able to replicate my issue once and they can't feel the subtle oddities I feel when I'm driving it.
They are now suggesting that it is the main trans computer and suggest trying that next. They assure me that it can't be anything else, but they also have told me that they have no idea what it is.
Has anyone else had this problem or reading? Can you help? [/code]
