I have a 2001 Caravan....lately it has developed a problem with the
tailgate latch. When you flick the lock/unlock switch on the front
door panel the doors (includingn the tailgate) unlocvk....BUT
apparently the first catch on the tailgate releases, making it
partially open. Lo and behold...you get the tailgate "open" icon on
the dash. You have to shut it quite firmly so that its locked again.
Please don't anyone say its the power locking system....who has the
kind of money to fix THAT?
But has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, what might be the
cure???
Many thanks

It has the power operated tailgate as well as power operated doors and
sliding doors..if thats what you are asking. The power button locks
and unloocks all five doors.

An application of lubricant at the latch sure can't hurt. I like
to use Nevr Seize for this type thing, though a spray grease also
works.

The power liftgate latch has switches in it that tells the computer if the
door is open or closed. when a the switch goes bad it cant tell the computer
what position the door is in so it just pops and doesn't unlatch. A common
problem with the system

I may be ab it confused on what powerv tailgate means exactly but I
THINK mine may be "manual".....in that the tailgate locks and unlocks
via the power locking system BUT does not open that way. To open it
you have to depress the latch (underneath, by the licence plate) and
lift manually. I admdit I was a bit confused by "power" but I think
the tailgate operation, as I described above, must be "manual". I
admit to knowing not all that much about vehicles and terminology.
Thanks....dodger

Dodger, take your vehicle to the dealer or a shop and have it checked out.

I have the same problem with my 2001 Town & Country! Have not called dealer

Yet into the hands of men lower in character than the lowest of the
police force was committed, in large part, the operation of Ordinance
12, 1857, recommended by Mr. Labouchere as a sort of benevolent scheme
for the defense of poor Chinese slaves under the British flag, who had
"an urgent claim on the protection of Government."

CHAPTER 3.

HOW THE PROTECTOR PROTECTED.

Dr. Bridges, the Acting Attorney General at Hong Kong, who had framed
the Contagious Diseases Ordinance of 1857, had given an assurance
concerning it expressed in the following words: "There will be less
difficulty in dealing with prostitution in this Colony than with the
same in any other part of the world, as I believe the prostitutes here
to be almost, without exception, Chinese who would be thankful to
be placed under medical control of any kind; that few if any of the
prostitutes are free agents, having been brought up for the purposes
of prostitution by the keepers of brothels, and that whether as
regards the unfortunate creatures themselves, the persons who obtain
a living by these prostitutes, or the Chinese inhabitants in general,
there are fewer rights to be interfered with here, less grounds for
complaint by the parties controlled, and fewer prejudices on the
subject to be shocked among the more respectable part of the community
than could be found elsewhere." Mr. D.R. Caldwell, Protector,
confirmed these views. But the views of the Chinese themselves had
never been elicited, and immediately such prejudice was aroused among
them that it was considered wise to subject only those houses resorted
to by foreigners and their inmates, to medical surveillance. Says the
report of the Commission: "So great has been the detestation of the
Chinese of the system of personal examination, that it has been
