Hey all,

I'm looking into different trucks I can commute to work in. Buddy of mine
has an 05 reg cab 2wd 5.4 SWB and says he gets 20 mpg. I think he's
bullshitting. I need something that gets roughly that mileage though. Does
the V6 F150 get that well? does 4x4 take away that much from the Fords? (I
know it does on Chevys) Are there any major problem areas with this? Do the
new F series hold up or should I look elsewhere?

thanks

TB

My '01 Chevy Silverado 4X4 extended cab with the 5.3 auto gets 20 on the
hwy, 12.5 to 13 towing my 26' travel trailer at 55 to 60 mph and 17 hwy in
the dead of winter when it's below zero....so your comment isn't valid.

My '03 D150 with the 4.2L V-6 gets about 14 MPG in the city and 20-22
MPG freeway depending on how fast I drive.

My F-150 SWB with 5.4 liter gets at best 17 mpg. This truck has a
cat-back dual exhaust and a K&N cold air intake. Before the intake and
exhaust installation best mileage was 15......
But it is the best engine Ford makes, I have 136,000 trouble free miles.
Nothing major, just normal maintenance. I would never buy the smaller
V-8 nor the V-6.....

Ron in Florida......

98 F150 report - Hi, I've got just over 100,000 mi. on my 2-wh flareside pickup now and it still runs with a tight feeling like it was new ... no rattles, squeaks and the engine is quiet. I've put on tires, brake pads, wheel bearing, seals, shocks, rotors, wipers,..

Front hub on 2002 F150 4x4 - I was told that my 2002 F150 off-road Fx4 has plastic parts somewhere in the front hubs and that they are prone to trouble. If this is true is there anything I can do to prolong the life of these parts? Are replacment parts still plastic or metal? ..

Shocks for 99 F150 XLT SC SB - The truck has 140,000 kms (87K miles) on it and original shocks. I drive mostly in the city but take a few trips out of town on forestry roads carrying a very small camper. It's probably about 600lbs load with all the gear not including two adults..
