Honest to God, you're as bad as TEX.......implying actions by a citizen,
then playing the police card - or in Tex's case, the police uniform
card.......
You didn't suggest that it was POLICE taking digital pictures in your post
above - to which I responded........
What you said was - complete with spelling, lack of capitalization, and
punctuation errors........
>.........,plus if you happen to have a digital
> camera with you take a picture of the vehicle fthe side to id it from

In THAT context, which is the context to which I was referring - a common,
ordinary citizen taking a digital picture - I STILL maintain that ANYBODY
with the simplest of legal training could get it thrown out of court......
With the photo manipulation/editing software available today, there is NO
WAY someone can say for sure that the photo is real - unless, of course, it
was taken by a sworn law enforcement officer........
........which YOU implied was NOT the case...... >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

It's not as easy to get those photos thrown out as you think here in
Chicago. His Royal Imperial Highness King Richard Daley of Chicago has
deemed it necessary to place cameras all around Chicago to "view" his
citizens. They're on lamp posts all around the city to watch streets and
corners and he's even got them on some corners watching for cars to go
through red lights. Your car goes through a red light and you get a ticket
in the mail, whether YOU were driving the car or someone else. Oh yes, the
minions of His Highness have deemed it lawful and correct to do this to His
Highnesses citizens and you try to fight this edict in a court of law here
in Crook, er, uh, I mean Cook County and fines will be assessed on you. >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

Yet again, you are talking about an "official", government-controlled
camera.........
......NOT one wielded by an ordinary citizen.........the results of which
might have been manipulated in an effort to cause trouble, or
whatever......
Doesn't ANYBODY have ANY reading comprehension skills anymore?????????
If I were an English teacher, I would curse the Internet on a daily basis
for exposing the absolute failure of the U.S. educational system to provide
reading, writing, grammar and English comprehension skills to the majority
of today's young adults. >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

Well now aren't you the "intelligent" one? Yes, I was making reference
to "OFFICIAL" government controlled cameras. Possibly you didn't comprehend
that when I mentioned City of Chicago? It appears your comprehension skills
are a bit lacking also. The U.S. Educational system, and some people's
parents, have created "many" individuals like yourself who are quite self
centered, find superiority in berating others, but just display their own
ignorance of the "social graces."
I merely made a statement, based on what was in the thread that I was
able to read, and right away your self aggrandizing personality found it
necessary to question my, and many others, comprehension skills. I
comprehend that you are not worth any further communication! >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

Let's see......
I comment that a digital photo taken by an ORDINARY CITIZEN could, most
likely, be thrown out of court....
YOU respond that digital photos taken by City of Chicago cameras have been
admitted to court.....
Where's the corrolation????? >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

So why wasn't the Rodney King video thrown out when he got beat that was
taken by a private citizen ?
I am allowed to take photos and videos of anyone breaking the law as
long as it is in a public domain ,such as a parking lot ,now if I do get
a picture or video of a crime committed and do not make an attempt to
hand it in to the appropriate law enforcement agency and they find out I
have it and did not make the attempt I can land myself in jail in some
parts of the country because I have withheld evidence from the law ,and
how menial the law being broken is still lands your butt in jail for the
same amount of time ,even in New York if someone continually parks
illegally in certain areas if the residents take photos and videos of
the person and vehicle the police can use that info to prosecute the
violator ,good case in point the police had gotten video from a private
citizen in Detroit and the person got good photos and video of the cars
and the drivers and they were able to bring quite a few under arrest ,so
where's your proof ,as long as it is in a public area all video and
photos are submittable to the court and I have never heard of any of
them ever being thrown out as long as they were obtained by the citizen
handing them over willingly or the police get them with a warrant
so basically you have no leg to stand on ,or are you just worried that
your mom and dad find out your doing stuff you shouldn't be doing ? >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

If you understood the technology - and that's a BIG "IF" - you would
realize that a simple digital photograph is easily manipulated by virtually
anybody with a computer and the correct, over-the-counter, relatively
inexpensive software while a manipulating a video would require a much more
sophisticated computer and proprietary software - such as the computers and
software used to generate special effects in the movies.
Give me the right basic setup, however, and I'll Photo-Shop a police
cruiser parked in a handicap spot. >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |

I see but it would still look like it was done on photo shop ,because
unless you can get a pic of the police car in the same lighting ,same
weather conditions ,same time of day you would have to also get a
picture of what is across the street from the store that day and time to
put it in the mirrors of the police cruiser and add the police cruiser
reflection in the glass of the store window with the proper distortion
and if their is a car beside it you have to worry about that there is no
reflection of the original car in the spot or make sure the reflection
of the cruiser is in the side of the car's paint ,and you also have to
make sure the grey scale is at the proper levels or when the pic is
flipped over to a negative all the little discrepancies of an altered
picture will show up ,it is a test most dabblers in digital manipulation
never bother with because they are just doing it for fun and they don't
want perfection, and you have to make sure you have the scale of the
cruiser is appropriate to the width of the parking lot spot and along
with about another hundred things that has to be checked and adjusted
and adapted to make the picture even close enough to get it to be looked
at by an expert and to do a good job you have to go thru the photo one
part at a time and it can take on average about 2-3 weeks to do a job
that would fool an average person and more to take care of all the
details,
and let's not forget that the car's number will also be shown and you
actually would have to have the car at the store at the time period to
matchup the records of the police since they are required to call in
that they are leaving their car ,so you can't do too much since there
are more variables then you can count to do this kind of fraud, thats why
photos do stand up in court >> Stay informed about: stupid driver or just plain lazy |
