Well, as you can tell from the subject line I have problems. My exhuast
valves seem to be sticking after my engine warms up producing a total power
fall off and non stop backfires.

Is there any hope of an engine flush doing any good or is this a total
overhaul situation??

If the car is rarely driven then there may be a lot of gunk stuck up
around the valves. If the heads were recently worked on, I'd guess that
the guides are undersized for some reason and expanding out. They would
need to be reamed. I'd drain the oil if it is the least dirty and add
back a quart of atf and a quart of oil and let it idle a few minutes,
cool, and then idle again for a few minutes. Drain and add back straight
oil. ATF is very detergent and it might clean it out some. Might even
add some 2-stroke oil to a gallon of gas and run it through the engine.
It would smoke but it might lubricate the valves enough to loosen them up.
