After making the trip to Omaha in my coupe with 289 , T-10 & 331 rear.
I have decided that a 5 OD is the way to go. I am in the info gathering
stag right now I would like to hear what others have done.Or just opinions.
the Camero 5 speed has that weird angle on the shifter when mounted to a
61-62
T-10 Studebaker B.H.. I know about the Temic but can't afford that. The
Mustang
5 speed has a lot of possibility.

Unbolt the shifter shaft off the Camaro transmission, dis-assemble it (easy)
and using a torch, heat and straighten the shaft.. Thats what I did.

Or buy a new shifter that will work. They are made for both the chevy
and Ford 5 speed.

Jerry,
Bruce Sandburg did the 5 speed in the 62Gt that Kelly Marion has now.
He used the Chevy 5 speed set up. I drove the car from Marana to Corona
de Tucson when Kelly moved and the way Bruce did it made it feel like
the car was made for it from the factory.

I am putting this in a '55 HT so I cant tell you how it compares with the
T-10 shifter. It comes up through the middle of the hump just inchs in front
of the GT center console I am using.

Sounds like the position of the T-10 in my 54 Coupe. The handle almost
rests on the console in 2nd and 4th.

Leave the console where it is. I don't have the engine and tranny in the car
right now but I did have and cut the hole in the floor for the shifter. I
have the seats and console mocked up in place but not bolted down yet and
can take a pic tomorrow. I am using '92 Grand Am seats. I drove this car for
a year with GT seats and felt as if I was sitting too high.

appt. today at 2:30. She's 89 1/2 and she thinks the doctor will give her a
shot to cure her. She has COPD and has been smoking like a tar keel for 65
years and is still at it, one coffin stick right after an other.
BTW, the hole for my shifter may not be in the same place your's needs to
be. I am running an '86 Vette Tuned Port 350 with the 5 speed and a 4.56
S-10 rear end.

I am blessed to have my mom with me still. She has been a Camel smoker's
widow for 23 years, lost her brother 14 years ago to COP, and just lost her
sister to lung cancer. Thank God she quit smoking at 24 when getting ready
to start a family, and still enjoys good health and works at 76. No
conquered people were ever able to wreck such a damaging vengence upon their
conquorers, as did the Indians to the white man with the introduction of
tobacco. It is far worse & more costly than what the white man did to them
with the introduction of liquor.
