Post subject: T-spark engine - and one thing led to another.

Driving my 166 T-spark locally and suddenly there's a thrashing sound under
the bonnet.

First reaction, it's next door's cat been warming itself up on the engine
again and failed to wake up before I moved off and it's now circulating on
the end of a pulley.

Next, and almost simultaneous, realisation - the steering's jammed!

Then, as the panic reactions (and the car) start to slow down, I realise
that the steering hasn't jammed, it's just not power-steering any more -
ain't they heavy without it? - and the thrashing sound is the p/s drive belt
that's shredding.

Phew... relief...

....and then the shredded belt gets caught up with the camshaft belt, gets
between belt and pulley, belt slips a tooth or two and you know the rest.

The only bright bit is that Newark Engines (Notts) were very helpful, lent
me a car for ten days and did the job for a tad over £1,000

A funny thing..... - .....happened to the GTV this morning. When I got in the clutch pedal seemed further away - my first instinct was to adjust the seat. In fact it was partly depressed and attempts to engage reverse produced a graunching noise. The gear lever wouldn't....

Alfa 156 2.0 spark plugs - Hi, I need to change splark plugs on my Alfa 156 2.0. Mechanic recommends me Champion splark plugs because NGK are not available. Is Champion a good choice and how does it compare to NGK and Bosch? Thanks.
