Post subject: seal blew & now i can see camshaft rotating!
Archived from groups: alt>autos>ford (more info?)

the camshaft seal failed on my fester, with the oddity that i can
actually see a small section of the camshaft rotating, i.e a quarter
inch section of camshaft at the end has been exposed where the seal
has disintigrated.

i am not sure how long the camshaft has been exposed. but i was
hoping
to just renew the failed seal.

if the camsaft end got scored by dust/dirt, would it destroy the new
seal? any other problems from a scored camshaft end? thx
