How do you replace the Hood Damper on a 2002 VW Passat

I have the replacement hood damper and I need guidance as to how to remove and install the new damper

If your talking about the gas lifting shock its easy. Just get someone to
hold the hood while you unclip the spring at each end & remove the old
shock. The new one will just pop on.
