peugeot 306 diesel

i am suffering from the dreaded rot around the sunroof which seems to be
the bane on some of these models. its the worst part of the car by a mile.
does anyone know the cause and whether or not there is some kind of repair
panel. its the most unlikely place to have rust but the car is too good to
scrap
