You should get a properly qualified mechanic to look for the fault.
Sometimes a slipping clutch can make a burning smell. If you have a
leak, and if there is some dripping on to a hot surface, this can cause
a smell.

HI
I have a very old nissan micra, don't use often and for very short
journeys
only, last week passed MOT, but when I drive it after about 5 minutes
get
very strong smell of burning if I turn engine off for a few minutes and
start it again it goes away, Mechanic said could be where it stands
overnight and maybe bit of oil heats up and then disperses that is why
smell
comes then goes without me doing anything, but it frightens me and
thinking
if getting rid of car, it is not the heating doing this, would be
grateful
for any advice.
thankyou all
regards
cathy
