I have a couple front fenders and a complete hood assembly (including sides)
for a 37 Chevy 2 door sedan. Both need some metal work but I wanted to get
them stripped before starting. I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area and
was wondering if anybody could recommend a local company. Are there still
companies that dip the metal to strip it versus sandblasting or media
blasting? Are there any disadvantages to either process? I called a media
blasting company that was advertising on the web and they wanted $500 to do
my parts. $500 will buy a lot of elbow grease but maybe that is what it
costs. Does that sound out of line for media blasting? Is dipping less
expensive and is it as effective?

thanks

Tony

For that much you can rent a big compressor, buy the media, a blaster,
and rebreather.
I have a cabinet, it wont fit a fender, but does my smaller parts.
On your question, blasting is better in my opinion. I've done both.
The only time I'd do a brush-on or dip over blasting is if the part
were undercoated. Then a dip/brush on is better.
