Post subject: max or altima

im thinking of buying a used car soon.between the 2, a maxima and a 3.5L
altima. now, the question is the engine, that is the difference? quality?
both are 3.5L.

Daniel:

It depends on the year of the vehicles in question. For example, for 2007,
the engine build is the same but the tuning is different. The Altima with
the 3.5 actually posseses MORE horsepower and torque than the Maxima (270,
compared to 255). Previous years, they are nearly identical on output,
depending on whether automatic or stick shift.

If you think about it, 270 HP vs 255 HP is a 6% difference. It shouldn't
really be a deal breaker. Plus, given that there is a big aftermarket
for the Nissan V6, that difference could disappear with a few light
modifications.

the altima seems cheapers, i think i will go with that.
