Archived from groups: alt>cars (more info?)

You guys do realize that the vehicle you are driving all depends on where
you live? In California they have magna cars... They don't gas at all. You
basically just pull into a magna station and insert the paddle into the car
and it charges the battery. The charge I believe is through induction.
Nice concept, problem is it is only in a state or 2.

The chances of Canadians getting cars like that are slim to none. Detroit is
the GM headquarters. You will see a lot of crazy cars running down there.
As roadside reps if we had a call from someone in a concept car they were
only allowed to be towed to "1" yard where they could be fixed. AAA hated
and personally it made our job a living hell... AAA had to sign an
agreement with GM to do as exactly what they say on how to transport that
vehicle. We had to pass the calls off to a supervisor right away.

GM would be broke already if they tried to put concept cars in every hayseed's backyard for them to tinker with.
AAA was not forced to sign any agreement with GM. They made a money contract for a profit.
There is something to be said for the concept, "What you drive depends on where you live." If I lived in California where import parts are more common and cheaper, I'd be driving a Toyota. If I lived in Alaska it would be a 4X4 something. And so on.
