Post subject: heater controls

I started my 2001 Chevy Duramax 2500 this morning and it would not move from air blowing on me to defrost. the recirculate button wouldn't light up nor would the AC button would light up. After 10 minutes I came back out and fiddled for awhile, said a prayer, turned off the ignition and restarted and it's all fine now. What's up with that?
