HI
I have subaru forester 1998, 110k miles. Problem is with air presure
from ciliner is blowing out coolant water. Cost to fix it is abbout
$1600 it is to much to me. I have some experience with car, but I don
know do I have to take engine out to change the head gasket or I can do
without this extra job?

thnak you

Hello,
Had my Subaru 1998 Forester head gasket changed for 950.00 at the dealer.
The oil was getting into the coolant and coolant into the oil. Temp gauge
went up often. All good now. $1600 seems too much. Unless the mechanic
suspects a warped head do to prolonged overheating. My heads did not need
machining. Good luck..RAM

gasket blow chances - My wife's 2002 Impreza 2.5TS is affected by that head gasket problem. When the recall was issued the car was treated immediately with a solution pured into the radiator at IIRC 40-50k miles. Impreza is reaching 90k miles now and drives bettent then..

2.5L Head Gasket problem? - A local mechanic said that there is a known problem with the head gaskets on the 2.5 Liter engines in a Subaru (in fact, he just had someone in to repair the head gasket on their '05 Impreza). Have any of you heard of this (and whether or not Subaru is....

Self Healing Head gasket?? - I found this group after buying a '99 OBW with 117K. Boy, I have learned alot. After reading about the dreaded HG failures I felt that it was only a matter of time before problem would raise it's ugly head. Sure enough, after 300 +/- miles of trouble....

2000 Forester L - leaky head gasket - I have a 2000 Forester L with just about 120,000 miles on it. I took the Subi into my local shop and was informed that the head gasket was leaking. Makes sense to me.. as I noticed my coolant reservoir was running low about a month ago. I added some..

driving style will save head gasket? - i never put a lot of stress on the engine, the max speed i usually drive is 65mph, rpm's rarely ever go over 3000 unless i go fast from a stop. will putting less stress on the engine through the way u drive make the head gaskets last longer? or is it..
