| ive been having lots of problems with my gears.. it sometimes goes in first gear.. if it doesnt, it acts like its in neutral.. and just revs really high. it wont go into second gear without you shoving it in second gear, and it rarely comes out of second unless you shove it hard, sometimes not even then. after its been in second gear, it wont engage into any other gear.. ive taken it to the dealership and they keep saying its the clutch, but its been happening since after they replaced the clutch last year, and after we replaced the clutch again this year.. and i took it to them last week and they said it was the clutch again. im MAD because we just put a new clutch in it 3 weeks ago.. so ITS NOT THE DAMN CLUTCH. im thinking its the sinkrows or however thats spelled.. and ive had a tranny specialist tell me that, and i have had some knowledgable tranny people say its the linkage..
anyone know what i should do? they are gonna charge me 500+ for a teardown of the tranny to just LOOK at it.. if its under warranty, then its for free, but im bummed because this all has to be done soon.. my hubby just deployed and i dont know what im supposed to do.. anyone have advice??

| Based on your description, it sounds like the problem is indeed in your transmission. Your dealer won't be able to tell you whether the problem is warrantable without determining the cause, and they cannot do that without disassembling the transmission. They're asking you to authorize enough money for them to disassemble the transmission for this inspection. That way, if it's not a warrantable issue, they'll still be able to collect appropriate monies for work they've done.
As for whether it's likely to be covered under warranty, that'll depend on the amount of miles on the vehicle. If you're the original owner, the warranty is 10 years/100,000 miles. If not, it's 5 years/60,000 miles. Either way, if the problem is actually inside the transmission, it's likely to be warrantable as long as it's within the warranty period.
If you don't think you should have to authorize the teardown, then you should contact Hyundai customer assistance at 800-633-5151.
