Did gas prices go up and everyone got rid of their Chevy trucks in the
process? Not a single message today. Now there is one. I will say thank
goodness I moved closer to work years ago. Now only 2 miles away. A full
tank of gas will last me around 2 weeks. In 5 years I haven't gone over
30,000 miles. Did my part to save gas long ago. Moved closer, and got a
newer truck that got better mileage then my last one. Adding Air to my
tires and a tune up is not going to save any more!!!

nahh......its because Chevy trucks are just junk. Scrap metal with four
tires, soon to become extinct thanks to NAFTA and the Jap truck makers.

Pondering that too. Most newsgroups have been empty/very slow
since Time Warner hosed their entire customer base.

When Usenet dies in a year or three, you can thank TW for killing
it.

Funny. With Usenet slowly dwindling away, you'd think you'd
realize that the newsgroup troll is even closer to extinct. But,
of course you don't. You're more useless than what you're
rallying against.

a Time Warner rep came door to door last month and I told them to write down
on their pad that I would never switch to them because they dropped Usenet.
Told them to give that to their supervisor.

Yep. I was a TW customer for years and a customer of two ISPs
that they swallowed up before that. No more. And I made that
known, not that it'll have much effect.

What does it cost to run a server and host newsgroups?

It depends on the newsgroups. Some are quite busy, there's lots of Binary
Newsgroup that use up a whole lot of bandwidth.

Yep, but in one fell swoop, they killed off a big chunk of the
users. Pissed me off enough to bail out and go to a competitor.
