Is there an off the shelf 5 speed solution to putting a 5-speed manual
aft of a Slant 6? Or would getting a Lakewood scattershield be less
trouble? I'm thinking either Tremec or Richmond Gear, although there is
probably a Getrag that would do fine and available out of junkyards.

A Clark, beloved of school bus drivers since Marilyn Monroe was alive,
would be obvious-obviously too big for a car, that is.

More or less, yes. A Dakota 5spd with an adaptor plate works fine. Toyota
Celica boxes have also successfully been used. This topic has been
discussed frequently at www.slantsix.org .

It's too bad, isn't it? you'd enjoy all that double-clutching.

AFAIK the Clarks were full synchro on all gears except first. Which
made floating the gears tough.
