86 v-w-golf driver side axle half shaft no good. thend near the tire is
off, an there is 5 or 6 bolts to the tranny side of the shaft. all bolts r
loose but 2 r stripped beyond belief. if there was lok tite used how do u
deal with that. i have new shaft ready to go, but allen head is stripped
and vice grips arent breaking free to unscrew. i am a strong dude an with
a vicegrip no movement other than slipping. other idea was to air chissel
or gring the head off, pull shaft and vice grip again , if so how do u
(un) lock the locktite? damn good car

No loctite is used there. Use a sharp chisel and hamer. Eventually they give
up....

These things never come off without a struggle. I ended up grinding
the stubborn heads off with a Dremel and replacing the bolts when the
tranny went back in. They are actually a 12-point pattern, not regular
allen (hex), sometimes it is hard to tell as they get gunked up.

I do vise grips and an allen wrench or triple square inside. The allen
wrench or triple square lets the vice grips only squish the bolt so
much. With nothing in the middle the vice grip never gets a chance to
get it's 2 ton grip. I have cursed a few but never had to saw or grind
one off. But I also live in a non salt climate.

I may curse when I do a clutch on my new car as the dealer replace a
cv boot. We had to stand on the brakes and use a long breaker bar to
get the lug bolts off that side the dealer worked on. The tire dealer
did not have an impact wrench that would break the lug bolts loose.

Locktite can be removed by heating with a torch.
