Post subject: crankshaft angle sensor

Are there any tricks or cautions that should be used to remove the crankshaft angle sensor from a 1990 3.1L Pontiac? It is located on the firewall side of the block and extends into the block about 2 inches. I have heard that they can break off or stick in the block.
