I need a [used] rear-end for '96 Vanden Plas
Cost: $2,000 (I PRESUME that's the, "installed" price?)

Does this sound reasonable ?

I just sold a 1957 XJS for parts with 50,000 miles for $500

I'd suggest the OP do some more checking and find out for sure if that
is the installed price or not. Presuming is like assuming, not worth
much in cold hard cash.

Rear Pivot Bearings and Hubs - '87 XJ6 - I am almost ready to bring my 87 XJ to a mechanic to replace pivot bearings (there is noticable play in both rear wheels and I can see the pivot shafts are loose). He says this is about a 7 hour job, but could end up costing more if the hubs are no good...

XK8 99 - I have a 99 XK8 with 48000 miles and I think I spun the bearings on it. Has anyone heard of any factory problems that would have caused this? The car is well maintained with regular oil changes and garage kept. It had great oil presure until this happene...
