one of the oil leaks is coming from the dip stick stem.. what is this
stem really called and where can I find it? the auto parts stores say
you have to get it from the manufacturer but 1. I don't even know what
it's called and 2. it's gotta be cheaper some where else?

I know salvage yards but I'm a little afraid we might end up with one
that's no better than the one we already have.

Any one know a place?

Lisa

Did you check to see if all you need to do was replace an o-ring or
gasket at the base? Your dealership might just be the best place to
start. And it's just called a dipstick tube, as far as I know. All
I've every referred to it as, and all I've every heard it referred to
as.

The only time I've every heard of one being replaced was either to go
for a chrome one (looks), or because it got broken/bent. The leaking
issue shouldn't be the tube itself, unless you bent it, and it
cracked....

Thank you.. I'll check into the gasket and/o-ring see if that could be
the quick fix first.
