What's that smell of plastic burning? - I've got a four-door automatic 2005 Toyotal Corolla with about 16,000 miles on it, which I am very happy with. But for the last 2 months, every time I park my car and pass by the front grill I smell a smell that I can only describe as a plastic burning..

'03 RAV4 burning oil - 2003 RAV4, 80k miles now, bought new, have changed the oil every 3 to 4000 miles, have done all scheduled service. For the past year or so I've noticed a puff of blue smoke on startup. Dealer has said it is no big deal. Now the blue smoke is more..

My 97 Toyota Tercel keeps burning out spark plugs - First noticed last year after long drive of 300 miles straight. Burnt out one spark plug and car bucked like a pony running on 3. Had one coil replaced and changed the spark plugs. Fixed. Now 1 year later, I burn out a plug every month or so after a long.

Burning oil...? Faulty exhaust manifold gasket? - Hi there. I have a 1990 Celica ST that may be burning oil. It doesn't seem to be burning the oil too badly because I have not noticed any loss of oil when I check the dipstick. However, I sometimes can smell burning oil when I have the vehicle..

Evil or Very Mad

A while back the head gasket went in my tercel ('93): I had it fixed along with getting the valves redone, i week later the car over heated. I found that the garage didn't tighten one of the clamps on the hose from the rad to the engine. I took it back and they said it didn't hurt anything, but it started to burn oil badly. I took it back again & said that the over heating must have done damage which caused it to start burnig oil. They told me that the rings were likey bad, but it wasn't from their negligence, I think it is b ut can't prove it. What do you people think?? Is there any simple solutions besides a ring job??
Thanks in advance; dunc

Before anyone can answer your question, more information is needed. How
many miles are on the engine? What is the engine's maintenance history?
How badly did the engine overheat? Steam all over the place or just running
hot? How much oil is being used? Is there blue smoke out the tailpipe?
Did the shop do a compression check?
