Does anyone know if it is possible to build a complete 50's or 60's
corvette clone from after-market parts? It seems like most every part
for the cars is available through some channel or the other. I would
like to build one that has a more modern drive train, body
(fiberglass?), suspension(newer corvette?), and interior(premium
leather, gauges,A/C). So if anyone can point me in the right direction
I would be grateful.

Yes, and no. There are not enough NOS or reproduction parts available to build
the complete car as originally built in the 60's. There are too many critical parts
not available.
Howver, there are a couple of kit/component manufacturers that sell cars that
look just like the originals but use modern components, like drive train,
electronics, and suspension. Wouldn't it be nice to have a car that looks like a
'66, but drives and rides like a 2000?

there is several companies that build repro parts and several companies
that build kit versions of the 50's thru the 60's ,but there is one
company out there that has so many repro parts for the 54 I believe that
they offer a complete kit from frame to body and all the accent pieces
too but I can't remember the exact name I haven't got a vette mag or
kitcar mag in awhile ,but I do know it is a major repro and nos vette
parts dealers ,they got started in the kit business a few years ago
because they even had reproduction bodies to replace those that were too
badly damaged and then they got the idea that they had all the parts for
a complete build so they offered a complete kit for those that want to
build one with what you are trying to do.
Now one thing that is nice is that you can actually use a newer rearend
and depends on how you want to go if an irs then the vette is the best
choice particularly the mid 80's the parts and rearends are all over the
place and at every major part swaps ,but if you want something more
affordable and that can handle decent horsepower try the rearend out of
the s-10 pickups they are strong and you can get rear disc brakes brand
new or rebuilt right from the local parts store to convert from drum to
disc just have to get the correct bracket to mount it to the axle, and
they do offer different final ratios for that rear end as well .
Just pick up a copy of kitcar magazine from petersen publishing that is
the best one on the market alot of good tech articles and coverage of
the kit market .
good luck
