You don't, they are adjusted when they are fitted new, if it has stretched &
become slack replace it,

ok..heres the deal,i changed my water pump on my 1992 audi 100cs,so i just
took off the timing belt /not marking the location of the pulley.replaced
the timing belt/now the car will not the start.its not getting any fire
and i don't have a cloe of how to get it back in time...help >> Stay informed about: timing belt |

You need to find out if your engine is what's called an interference
engine. If it is and you have been turning it over you will have bent
some valves probably. Best to find out before you mess with it anymore >> Stay informed about: timing belt |

Buy a manual, find the timing marks, line them up, refit the belt, pray

Read the Haynes manual for that engine. It'll tell you how to set the
cam sporcket and the crankshaft in relation to each other to get it all
together.
