Hi, not sure if you can help but would be most grateful if you could.
Peugeot 406 1996 petrol.
Keypad immobiliser wiring block seems to have broken off about 4 wires at the junction. Commonsense would usually help in just connecting the colours back to the appropriate point - problem is they have multiple orange, violet, etc. At least two orange and a violet have disconnected with more orange still ok, there are 'stumps' of the broken orange left in the block.
Question is, any ideas on the wiring order or any means of identifying. I have my keypad codes and have good electrical knowledge but did not want to just randomly connect for fear of shorting and causing more damage.
Also had speedometer issues with the thing just locking at 40 occasionally shooting up to say, 80mph then dropping back to 0. Cleaned as best I could, the connections on the back of the unit and at least the wild excursions are smoother!
Can't use the car due to keypad so any help much appreciated - I have Haynes manual which does not seem to help on the keypad
Many thanks >> Stay informed about: anybody needing help? |

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me, i'll explain what the problem is but forgive me as the history of this is quite long.
I have a problem with the immobiliser on my Peugeot 306, when i turn the ignition on, both the Red and Green light comes on on the keypad and won't accept my 4 digit code, had a mechanic look at it and he said the ECU had locked out, so found a place that sorts out ECU's and they said make sure it not an earth fault before sending them the ECU, so the mechanic checked and said no, there's no earth fault!
So sent ECU to be done, came back, still the same problem, ECU place said it wasn't ECU, so decided theres nothing else i can do but to take it to the Peugeot garage, they had a look, connected it to their computer and said they couldn't find what it was, can only be the ECU locked out, so i sent the ECU back to the ECU repair place and they said it wasn't the ECU and to tell your garage its 'PIN 18 - Battery supply fault', so i did, they said they've completely checked everything and cannot find the fault and they still believed it was the ECU, which left me well in the s**t, a private mechanic, the agents and an ECU repair place, all these so-called experts still haven't found what the problem is!!
Anyway, on verge of scrapping the car, i managed to get hold of a second hand ECU, keypad and code to try, which show's up with the exact same problem which leads me to believe its not the ECU.
If there's anyone out there that can offer me any advice or info on what to do next i would be very grateful, i'm assuming it must be an earthing problem but haven't got a clue how to find it, cleaned up all the earthing points i can find but still no joy!
I'm about to string myself up as the car has now been out of action for over a year, so any help would be great!! >> Stay informed about: anybody needing help? |

Hi,
I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a bit of a problem and i need to know if it needs dealing with urgently!
My air bag light is flashing, my manual says to contact my dealer, which i did. They need to run a diagnostic, but i cant afford to do this for three weeks!
Would you have any idea what this flashing could be caused by, and if so, if its something i should deal with immediately of whether i can afford to just leave it for a while?
Many thanks

Hi mate,i know i have to wait to see what the ecu tests says, but u might be able to help.
I bought a 406 2.0i glx about 2 weeks ago and it was running like a dream, then i got caught in a trffic jam and my fuel warning light came on, and although the car hesitated once on my way home, it got me home with no problems. so the next day went to go to my local garage to top up but the car would not start, i assumed it was fuel and topped it up, ended up calling my home start out who sprayed there magic potion into the air intake and it still did not start, they then checked for a spark and there was none,i have a bloke comin out tonight to dao his computor magic, but im not used to sitting back and waiting, the other thing is, i have spoken to the last two owners as the coded anti start keypad has been disabled (actual plug taken out of the back of it)and appears to have been so for a number of years, speaking to my local main dealer they say i can not reinstate without the knowing for 100% wot the last code was. i am clucking at straws but have u any thoughts mate.
ok ecu test done chap phoning me with code meaning tomorrow code 1097? >> Stay informed about: anybody needing help? |

What does this mean??? Is it an electrics fault as i've just had it fully serviced where they changed all my spark plugs etc.
