My KIA Spectra has been a nightmare and no one can seem to make the necessary
repairs. As soon as the A/C is turned on, the motor races and the engine
light is engaged. I purchased the car in Cookeville, TN and the service
department claimed that after filling the gas tank, I was not making adequate
turns of the gas cap....several turns of the gas cap has not fixed the issue.
I moved to MI and once again, took the car in for service and they could not
identify the issue. The car is scarey as it stalls on the highway and of
course you must come to a dead stop (in 8 lanes of traffic) before attempting
to start it again!

After weeks of not utilizing the A/C, the engine light will turn off - very
hard to do in 90 degree weather. I am now located in Alexandria, VA and no
local KIA service. The closest KIA service is in Springfield, VA , (Sheehy
Ford of Springfield) they do not have pick up service, no services on a
Saturday when I am off & can't even wash the car. This is the first new car
that I have purchased that can not be fixed and it is still under warrenty? I
am not fond of KIA - Has anyone had this same issue? HELP

I own a 2002 and am happy, maybe the a/c condensation is shorting out a
wire, a/c produces water (look under the front right of your car after a/c
is on) many states have lemon laws, I would search for TN lemon laws and
see what it takes. hopefully someone will give you a better answer, just
trying to give you ideas..... good luck

There is a LEMON LAW

If they don't fix it
even if they replace the entire drivetrain
ac system, electronics and wiring and they STILL haven't fixed. you get a
REFUND so you can go buy a honda or toyota, sure they cost more, and its
another year or two of payments, but it will be on the road, not broken,
plus they will have trade in value, the kia has NONE

How can you expect the car to be repaired if you are not willing to
drop it off? For what it's worth, your problem sounds like either a bad
ground somewhere in the engine compartment or a defective idle speed
control valve. A decent technician should have no trouble isolating the
problem.
