This will be a brief answer...
The turbo I have use over the years [ twins and singles ] is Turbonetics TO4
H3 .. new they are about 700US .. used you should be able to get one for
less than half that .
The H3 is good for over 500hp , use a 69 turbine housing or possibly an 81
depending on how quick you want the turbo to spool up , you said you only
want low to medium boost so a hi flow turbine [ ie:big ] is not needed.
You did not say what kind of power you want but on a CHV 350 with aprox.
275 base n/a hp ,with 6-8lbs of boost you should be able to make over
350-400hp , you may want to consider an intercooler if you are going to be
around the 8psi or up mark .
If you want to get trick , you can also use a couple of small dodge 2.2
turbos and thier intercoolers, they will also make 400+hp no problem and
will probably spool up quicker than an equal hp'd single turbo.
Make sure you have the fuel system sorted out "before" you start.. it is a
substantial part of the project and is equally if not more important than
the rest.. bad fuel delivery .. = blown motor .
Good luck.
Dave.
