THE BEST MOTORSPORT DRIVER IN THE WORLD IS ..... WHO?
December 6, 2004 It was billed as the ultimate motorsport showdown, with
newly crowned world champion of Formula One, Michael Schumacher, and the new
World Rally Champion, Citroën's Sébastien Loeb lining up against each other
for the first time in the 2004 Race of Champions. So who won in the mother
of all motorsport battles? It wasn't Schumacher. He was knocked out by a
little known Finn, who races in the World Series by Nissan, a single car
series run around the world that searches for up and coming drivers, Heikki
Kovalainen.

Sounds like everything went right for Heikki on the night, but he still must
be a damn good driver!

Cheers, Jason

Let me say that event was the most boring thing I have ever seen a rally
driver involved in. Why they thought shoe horning two cars into a track
the size of a skating rink would make a good race I don't know.

Clearly you've not seen the European super-special stages. Some of
them are SMALLER than this. Afterall, they have to fit inside a stadium.
Heck, think of them as Euro version of our Monster-truck races. Very Happy

Of course, but they are just a part of a larger event, i.e. a
world class rally.

The problem with the Course des Champions may be that they
thought they had tailored an all-round driving trophy on
Schumacher, only to see him lose!

Well they make those better by having rally cross on them and having
everyone run at the same time. Euro-nascar Smile The race of champions in
Mexico was much better, especially when that motocross kid rolled the
car.
