Sometime soon I want to put a hitch on my 59 Lark so I can tow my little
63 Arrow travel trailer, what hitch works on a Lark?

The best way to do it is to weld up your own to the frame just behind
the gas tank.

I used two inch angle Iron behind the tank and welded two inch square
tubeing in the center. For the rear portion, pull the bumper and weld
in inch and a half square tubeing between the bumper brackets flush so
that you can bolt the bumper back on.

You will have to make up a spacer to go from the tubeing welded
between the bumper braces and the two inch fro the recieverand of
course replace the bracket to frame bolts with grade eight.

I set up the 64 and 65 this way and I have pulled three tons with the
64 with no problems.

What would be wrong with using plates with holes that are sized so that
they could "double" with the bumper brackets on the frame? I
personally don't like the idea of welding to a frame if I don't have
to...

Really? Do you know what class it is? Are you willing to part with it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Sorry but I'm NOT welding anything to the frame, even if I had a welder
and enough skill to do it right (currently I have neither).

I want a good solid hitch that can be bolted to the frame, like the S10
hitch on my Champ. It bolted right up after drilling two holes, and if
a future owner (in 2040 or so <G>) wants to remove it they won't have
any problem.

I have a funny feeling about this Lark, it's such a nice car that I feel
more like a caretaker than just another owner. While I plan on keeping
it for a long time and putting a LOT of miles on it it's also the most
original Stude I've had (by FAR), and I want to keep it as original as
is reasonably practical.

Class? A class 2 hitch on a class 1 frame is more like it <lol>...

With electric trailer brakes it stopped just fine. And getting it
started was no problem since I am running a 400hp McKinnon with a 12"
Hays clutch and a 726 manual transmission........thats the
transmission GM used for 3/4 to five ton trucks.....

Yes I know that transmission is a bit heavy and low geared with
compound low but since I am running 3:00 rearend gears it works well.
