For those of you going to the Indy F1 who aren't too familiar with the
area (i.e. you don't remember the number for the Slippery Noodle Inn),
there is an excellent guide in the latest issue of RACER magazine
beginning on page 50. (July 05, Issue #159 - I have no idea why they're
so far ahead ...) I would be happy to clip the article and send it to
whoever is most inexperienced, but my roommate, Oscar Madison, hasn't
read it yet and once he's finished it will be deposited in one of his
slobby junk piles and become a part of ancient history.
One bit of help: the number for the Slippery Noodle Inn is 317-631-6968.
Hoist one for me. Hell, hoist ten for me.

While I've been to Indy several times, it was for the
Mopar Nationals when I was young(er) and single,
so if nobody else asks for it I would be very interested
in the article. I only know where the marriage-unfriendly
places are...
I used to get to read RACER at my old job, but I missed
that article.
Hopefully I'll get to spend a few hours in the presence of
one T308 on the Indy trip as well. Should be a cool experience
overall.
We're meeting up with TR1 in Cleveland before the June race
so the AAF lovefest continues, just a few more people to visit
within the year I suppose...
If things play out right we'll see you too Mike, how cool is that?
I'd have never thought this would happen when joining this group
back in '98-'99...

Me neither. You don't think about stuff like that when you join a
newsgroup just based on a common love for a car.
But you won't see me in Cleveland, that's for sure. I wouldn't go there
if I had a gun to my head.
Although, I said that about New York City, didn't I?

Did it have any suggestions for getting a decent meal in anything
approximating real time, other than at Ruth's Chris?
....I'm still waiting for a G&T I ordered in 2003.

We got ploughed with a couple of Jack drinking Jordan mechanics there
one year: It can be chaotic but its definitely a must do.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Indy F1 |

And what's wrong with eating only there? Just have drinks for breakfast
and lunch.

Why not? The city isn't the most appealing one that I've heard of, but
for a weekend of racing, it ain't bad.

Yes I did. And, while watching the Mid-Ohio race I was again struck by
that beautiful in-the-distance view of the river, etc. If nothing else,
I wouldn't mind hanging around that track.
OT OT OT OT OT OT
What's up with McLure, btw? Did he make a mistake switching from Vette
to Viper?
More observations: - I think Wolf Henzler might start cleaning up in
that series like he did in the Supercup series. The guy is smooth. I'd
like to see what he can do in a different car (different marque).
Derek Bell is really having problems with that car, especially off the
blocks. I think it might have been a little premature for Volvo to try
and race it.
I liked seeing Heinricy in there, I have a lot of respect for what he's
done for the Corvette program and now the CTS-V program. Plus, there's
nothing like a ringer. Hell, Mad Max was one for awhle.

That's a very good question. McClure was on the verge of winning the
Championship 2 yrs ago when he got creamed at Road America. Then last
year SCCA bungled things, messing with the rules every 10 minutes and
screwing the Corvettes left and right, did him in. He hasn't been on
the ball at all this year. I wasn't at the first few races, so I'm not
sure what happened there. I'll look him up at Cleveland and get the
411. On a side note, he's one of the nicest guys at the track.
<<More observations: - I think Wolf Henzler might start cleaning up in

Oh, yeah. If he hadn't made that bonehead move at Road Atlanta, he
would have finished on podium there, too.

Derek is THE nicest guy at the track and he's said himself that the
Volvo's got issues. Funny thing though, this is the second time in two
races that I've had to hold my breath and not hit him at the start. <g>

More OT OT OT OT OT........
It's a great track, plenty of good places to sit and watch the action,
easy to get nice and close. The food ain't half bad either...
I'll be driving on it in a 924S SE (with M030 sport suspension)
in a couple weeks, after several years of attending events and
trackdays just wishing I could drive out there...
It's just a driver's ed type event but I'm just thrilled I finally saved
the scratch to go...

It's a rather monotonous menu.

I hated chemistry. As long as they taste OK I don't care if my drinks
are made from gasoline. For all the shit I've run through this vessel,
and all the shit doctors have run (and are running) through it, my liver
values are still normal. Go figure. I still think that if I were
autopsied all the doctors would pull out my right side is this little
dog-turd looking thing.
I'll never be autopsied, I can guarantee that.
M
ps - just don't give up the sauce before I get a chance to come out
there again; I might have a little Chalone or Santa Cruz Mtn. Vineyards
something or other to quaff. There are no wineries in Arizona
(Kokopelli Vineyards doesn't count; makes good marinade). As long as
California doesn't keep sliding down hillsides I'll still be able to
procure. (To some they may be just rich people living foolishly on the
side of a hill, but not to me - I lived only a mile from Bluebird Canyon
for a spell and it is a beautiful, beautiful place.)

I didn't say "taste like gasoline". I hate grappa. Coming from an
Italian family, I've been subjected to that crap for years - homemade or
high-quality, it didn't matter. I wouldn't pour grappa for my worst enemy.
Wait, yes I would.
Same goes for that horrible pear liquer, it usually has a pear in the
bottle (Williams). Horrible stuff. (I worked in the liquor industry
for years.) Give me some Wild Turkey Rare Breed or - on a very special
occasion - some special-label Johnny Walker. Now that I've been ruined
by a gift of JW Blue, I'm not sure if Black or Gold will ever suffice again.
We can always use new blood here, lurker. I know you've come out of the
woods a couple times, but c'mon - you haven't lived until you've been
shredded by Mark or calculatingly cut to pieces by Tiger or - if you're
really foul - had obscenities and threats of death screamed at you, in
ALL CAPS, by me.
But I've mellowed.
