Following on from the thing about that 308 going up in flames I checked the
fuel pipes on my '89 328 last weekend. Not bad, but not that great either -
definitly gone/going rock hard (some more than others). So I'm going to
replace the filler neck pipe, the tank to the pump, the two in the pipe that
join the tanks together and the return from the metering head to the RS
tank. The clear plastic breather hoses are OK.

Not that expensive & not that hard to do - just a bit time consuming.

If you own a car pre 1990 & the pipes havn't been checked then do yourself a
favour & get them looked at.

I.

Spent a whole morning trying to buy 40 cm of 15 mm internal fuel resistant
hose, nowhere to be found! Been to 5 places, very frustrating. Used a piece
of "chemical resistant" garden hose and put a piece of same hose in a jar
filled with gasoline, to check whether it is affected.
