I HAVE A 1988 HONDA CIVIC THAT BLEW A HEAD GASKET I CHANGED IT AND NOW IM
GETTING A PINGING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE VALVE COVER.ANY THOUGHTS ON
WHAT IT IS IM LOOKING FOR WOULD BE HELPFULL

We need a better description of the sound - is it really a dinging sound or
is it more like a ticking? Does it get quieter or fade away as the engine
warms up? And did you set the valve clearances when you reassembled it?

(Also, it is bad form to post in all capitals... it's considered
"shouting.")

sorry about the capitals im new to this computer stuff.anyway i refered
back to my chiltons book and double checked the timing and i was off 4
degrees from top dead center i put it back together and the noise was not
there when i fired it up.i really thank you for your reply.i have another
question for you.my girlfreind drove it the other day and she told me that
when the car got warm the throtle reved up really really high like it was
stuck .she said she sat there about 15 seconds and the it went down to
normal and idea what it might be. thanks for any info have a great day

It will 'burp' out some air in the first few trips, so be sure the rad
is full to the top, and reservoir needs to be full to MAX line. Don't
put any tap water (Hondacide) in there. Air in the system can throw off
engine temp sensors / confuse the computer.
