I drive more city miles than highway. As a matter of fact
I only have about 13500 miles on my 2003. So, I have
already had problems with the build-up. Is there any
additvie or "thing" that can cut this down?

Why do you feel you have had carbon build up?

best thing to do is take it out every week or so on the highway wait
till its warm then hold the revs high for a while,if its an auto u may
wanna downshift a gear, keep the revs no higher than 5k but above 3500,
most volkswagon engines are screamers and work better when they r
reved higher

The TDIs are diesels and I would guess that running them at high RPMs is
more likely to cause build up.

I am on the highway at least once a week. I will try this.

Yes, like the greedy bastards need one.
