how to adj fuel pressure ?

hi, when setting the fuel pressure on a turbo charged engine at idle , is
the vac line to the reg (malpassi) supposed to be disconnected or connected
?

this is for a friend of mine , , he has a 1.7 rising rate reg, and
seems to think that setting the fuel press at idle with the vac line
disconnected , at 25 to 30 psi , is ok , cause of the increasing rate of
the reg.

but i dont think this is correct ?
any comments ?

"Generally" the base pressure is set with the vacume line off [ no
influenced pressure drop as some/alot of regulators will pull the fuel
pressure down once the vacume line is reinstalled ].
Look up the spec for the motor , it may even be on line somewhere , it
should say if the line is on or off, but I would default set it with no
vacume as it would be a higher [ read safer ] setting to start with ... you
can always lean it down from there.
