the title pretty much says it all. does anyone know how to activate
it? i know this is a pretty dumb question but im new to it

Hit the set button on the steering wheel. You probably should read the
manual.

Are you wanting to install a cruise control on your Malibu?
If so, they are available at www.bought4less.com at a real reasonable price
with good service after the sale.

You have to TURN IT ON, then when you are at cruising speed that you wish to
maintain, press the set button.
