Does anyone know if this is plastic or really wood? It looks too perfect
for real wood...

It's real wood veneer, but it's got a urethane coating over it that
makes it look plastic and phony. It's a common dilemma - varnish would
look better, but won't last; urethane lasts, but looks fake. Most car
makers go with the latter so they don't have people complaining about
their wood fading, peeling, and cracking.

Real wood according to BMW. There is so much clear coating on it that
it may as well be fake.
