Post subject: Transmission No-Shifts

Sad Confused have 2000, f-150 with 58k miles on odometer.

Just today I experienced shift problems. Truck has 2 pan changes with filters and no problems ever. Today I couldn't get reverse to function. Accelerating from first to second, the rpms would climb but no shift. I let off on the accelerator to drop the rpms and then lightly accelerate and then I had second gear.

Sometimes when I would slow down then I would loose the drive gear function. I rev the engine, drop rpm then accelerate in drive OK.

Never have experienced this type of problem before. Anybody have any idea(s) as to what the cause of the problems are?

Thanks for your input!!!!
