Post subject: Trailer light problems with a Suzuki Samurai.
Archived from groups: rec>autos>4x4 (more info?)

I am having problems with my trailer turn signals.

I want to tow a light trailer behind my Samurai. I bought a converter
to convert the seperate turn/break lights into a combined turn/brake
light, for a 4-wire flat connector. Everything works well EXCEPT the
turn signals are very very dim on the trailer.

It's not the trailer wiring, because I have tried it on three trailers
now, and it has the same problem on all of them (and the trailers have
very bright lights when connected to other vehicles).

Running/tail lights look fine on the trailer.
Brake lights may be a bit dim. I expected them to be brighter, but it
is still pretty obvious when they come on.

Turn signals are very very dim on the trailer. They are still nice and
bright on the truck, even with the trailer attached.. Blink speed is
the same with and without the trailer.

I thought maybe it was the adapter/converter thing, so I replaced the
adapter with a new one (a different brand). Still very dim turn
signals.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Noel
