1.5 L engine. One cylinder is not firing when idling Does work at higher
rpm, i think.... Spark plug is ok and working. Looks like no fuel getting
into the cylinder, maybe bad valves ?

thanks
Luke

Nah.

Replace the plug wires, cap, and rotor. The wires might be
seventeen years old.

Could be alot of things....
Vacuum leak in the intake manifold near that cylinder, bad injector,
tight valves, blown head gasket etc
Run a compression test, listen to the injector and post results.
Also, a bit more history on the car and problem would be helpful.

Im assuming that the "check engine light" is on and if so, go to your local auto parts store and see if they can hook up a tester to your car and pull any codes. These codes will usually pin point the problem. Other wise you're just taking a shot in the dark and hoping the things you try fix the problem. With a misfire like this you can have a lot of codes come up, but one might affect the other, so pull the codes and post which ones come up then we can go from there. If your auto parts store won't do it for free, you can either buy the tester for about $200 (OBD I or OBD II Tester) or have a mechanic pull them for you and see what they charge to do so. Hope this helps
