After a disaster with the timing chain jumping a few teets on the cam sprocket, I have replaced the chain, the chain guiders, four exhaust valves, etc. on my 1981 380SE (an European version with double chain). Now, how to I know if the chain tensioner also needs to be replaced? pej -- Per Erik J..
« The only reason chain jumped is because the tensioner went bad and chain stretched... so just change the tensioner. »

I have a 2000 explorer with 120 K on it. I am replacing the intake manifold gaskets. Is it advisable to change the tensioners with out changing the Timing Chain?

Hello, Anyone know how to release the timing chain tensioner on a Magna engine? Have just replaced the head gasket, but can't but the chain back on as the tensioner is fully out,., Thanks Matt
