Hello! I unloaded my beloved Nissan Frontier NISMO V6 for an 07 Toyota
Camry because of gas mileage, gas pricing and my 45 mile one way commute. I
have had the Camry for a year and although it is a great car, I desperately
miss my truck and sitting up high. So I am back looking for a 2005 to 2007
Tacoma. Ultimately, I want the 4 door V6 TRD (it's a mean truck isn't it?),
but to not hear it from my better half about gas, I am trying to locate the
access cab four cylinder, automatic. I have found some, but every one I
find sits really low and are on the small 15" tires. The truck looks
strange on the small wheels like it is missing something. Are 4cyl Tacoma's
even available with the V6's 16 inch tires? If I swap out the wheels and
tires, will it still sit low? It seems to me to be about a 4 to 6 inch
difference on how high it sits.
Thanks for any info! >> Stay informed about: Tacoma, used model question |

ALL Tacoma PreRunners (exc. the V6 4WD) are equipped with the automatic
trans. If you search for a PreRunner, you will get an auto, all you have to
do after that is count the doors and check for the right motor.

Thanks, I appreciate it. However, I was checking on v4's available with 16"
tires and the height of the V6's.

There is no such thing as a V4. Well, there is, but not in an automotive
application.
In any case, the PreRunner gets 16" tires, comes with a 4 or 6 cylinder
motor, and has an automatic trans. The standard Tacomas get 15" wheels, and
some might even get 14" (but I don't know this for certain).
So, if you look for a TACOMA PRERUNNER, you will find 16" wheels and an
automatic -- two of your main requirements. You can also find within that
group both 4- and 6-cyl motors and various cab configurations.
The Tacoma PreRunner V6 4WD has a manual transmission available as an
option, so this model fits your criteria if you avoid the manual trans.
All Tacoma PreRunners come with an automatic transmission, except the 4WD
V6, which comes with an automatic or an optional manual trans. The PreRunner
comes in both a 4 cylinder and a V6 engine configuration. All come with 16"
tires (I believe the tire is actually a 265/75x16, which is roughly
equivelent to a 31 x 10.50 / 16). I'm pretty sure that all TRD PreRunners
get the V6 motor.
Your question is a bit convoluted, but I think you are asking if the 4 cyl.
Tacoma comes with 16" rims. The answer is yes, absolutely it does. You have
to get the Tacoma PreRunner, they all come with 16s and an automatic trans.
There are various trim levels, if you find one with stamped steel wheels,
this is the base model with hand-crank windows and manual door lock and
other base model options. If you find one with forged aliminum rims, then it
will have electric windows and door locks and the upgrade options that go
along with those features.

Now that you ask, I'm not sure. I thought there was a 4WD PreRunner, but I
could be wrong. When I was truck shopping for my daughter, I wanted a
PreRunner with a manual transmission, and found the only way to get that
trans was to get the V6 with 4WD. I suppose I could have zigged when I
should have zagged, and read something into whatever I read that was not
there.
Perhaps the 4WD is not a PreRunner anymore, but that not change the salient
point that the PreRunners all have an automatic transmission. >> Stay informed about: Tacoma, used model question |
