Strange key problem

What does it matter if it is toxic Nothing in the door is going to get
poisoned. Oil, in my experience attracts dirt and grunge.

I wouldn't want to drink or intentionally inhale the stuff, but the
ingredients listed in WD-40's MSDS seem less toxic than, oh, say
filling up with gasoline (which contains cancer-causing benzene, etc.)

The toxic stuff evaporates quickly - you breath it in as you apply
it. It isn't going to send you to the ER, but it increases your risk of
cancer later in life.

Agreed on gasoline. I try not to work with raw gas, either. When
filling the car I keep my head out of any vapor plume. You folks may
laugh, but cancer will be affecting at least one in three of us by the
time we are middle aged. If I could run my car on light machine oil, I
would.

I hear you. My sarcasm was due to, in my opinion, the over concern these
days for things supposedly toxic.
Seems we went from one extreme to the other.

I have a small can of aerosol "graphited lock fluid" that has lasted
for decades.
Light oil carrier with graphite powder and a thin plastic curved
nozzle to spray into the lock.
Seems to work well for me in all types of lock cylinders. Whenever I
notice less than smooth action in the pins, I spray some as
preventative measure.
