My wife was driving her 2001 Spectra to work today, and when flipping
on a turn blinker in the middle of the drive....Suddenly the airbag
light came on and headlights went out, along with basically everything
on the dash quitting - gauges, speedometer, radio, clock, AC fan. Also,
the RPM gauge apparently started pulsing with the same rythym that the
blinker light would normally use.
The engine still ran normally, and after driving a short time,
everything came back on properly, the airbag light went off, and the
Check Engine light came on.
Anyone else experienced something like this before, or know how likely
it is that it would happen again? Haven't had a chance to bring it in
to a dealer/shop yet to pull the code, but since everything came back
on randomly, i'm assuming it's a short in the wiring or switch for the
blinker somewhere.
